Improving public schools is one my top priorities and I will support improved programs and facilities, including providing air-conditioning for all new buildings and retrofitting where possible. I also believe that charter schools are a source of innovation and change. Our district has a very successful charter school in the Kona Pacific Charter School and I have heavily supported the Ka'u Learning Academy, the only new charter school to be approved this year. It hopes to open a campus in Hawaiian Ocean View Estates.
